Fish and seafood is a source of high quality protein, and is low in fat and cholesterol. They are an excellent source of Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Magnesium and Omega 3 fatty acids. There is now a lot of evidence that people who regularly include fish in their diet have a lower risk of unwanted weight gain. The Omega 3 fatty acids that Fish is rich off are a very important factor in the health benefits of a fish and seafood rich diet. Together with high quality vegetable oils health gains are impressive. So you better hit the tuna steak and reduce your intake of beef steak? Well not really as always its a matter of balance. And They are linked to a substantial decrease in the symptoms of inflammatory diseases like arthritis and colitis. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), they significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and some forms of cancer. Better yet, rich Omega 3 foods like fish have been tightly linked to positive mood changes. So, fish can even be of therapeutic value in the treatment of a mild depression or the “winter blues”!

More good news, there is evidence of a lower risk of developing Alzheimer disease as well as a reduction in the probability of developing type 2 diabetic diseases. Of course there are still a lot of unanswered questions in this area, but Fish and Seafood are a major part of the Mediterranean Diet. People in the countries that are eating fish and using olive oil are known to have less cancer and heart problems than we have in America. It seems that Fish and seafood are very beneficial for pregnant women as well. The Omega 3 fatty acids seem to have a positive effect on fetal brain development and may reduce the risk of premature birth. There are positive effects on the growth and health of the fetus.

The benefits of eating fish and seafood are so obvious that the American Heart Association (AHA) has recommends that adults eat fish at least twice a week and if you have heart disease, the AHA recommends a diet that contains as many Omega 3 fatty acids as one “fatty fish” meal a day. So Fish is beneficial for the health of people with heart problems as well as it prevents getting those problems in the first place. We have a great selection of seafood recipes available on our website. Talking about great news for seafood lovers! And did you know that there are really zillions of ways to prepare a great seafood meal? With so much positive news about fish, one doesn’t get around the idea that there might be a catch. Well in a way there is. There are dangers in the form of heavy metals found in fish. An article about the dangers and some FDA guidelines on gaining and not losing your health can be found on our web.

Vegetarianism is the custom of not eating meat, including beef, poultry, fish, or their by-products, with or without the use of dairy products or eggs. But why would someone want to become a vegetarian? Simply you can he healthier happier lose wieght and avoid disease.

Step 1 – Decide why you want to become a vegetarian. There are as many reasons for becoming vegetarians as there are people out there. Whatever your reason is you need to clarify it. If you are one of those wanting to do it because it seems like a good idea or because your friends are doing it then you need to read and listen to as much information as possible on the subject of vegetarianism(is that a word?) in order to get a more substantial reason for continuity. So, no matter what your reason may be, for the most part the underlying reason behind most people becoming vegetarians is a desire for better health. Most health practitioners would agree that a vegetarian lifestyle is a healthier lifestyle.

Step 2 – Now you know the reason you want to become a vegetarian. Decide what type of vegetarian you are going to be. This is not going to be set in stone. You can make different choices as your learn and grow on this journey. Let’s discuss different types of vegetarians. The basic vegetarian eating plan is one that consists of mainly fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and grains. There are also as many variations of the major types as there are people because it’s an individual decision. You are the one who has to decide what goes in and out of your mouth. That said, let’s move on. The major types of vegetarians are the ovo-lacto vegetarians, pescatarians, lacto-vegetarians, vegans, ovo-vegetarians, raw vegans.

Ovo-lacto vegetarians – Vegetarians who include diary products and eggs in their eating plan.
Pescatarians – Pescatarians include fish.
Lacto-vegetarians – Vegetarians who include dairy products in their eating plan.
Vegans – Eat only plant based foods, no animal products or by-products.
Ovo-vegetarians – Eat eggs.
Raw vegans – Eat only raw plant based foods. Raw, meaning foods that are prepared at no higher than 115-120 degrees.

Step 3 – You’ve figured out what type you’d like to begin your vegetarian journey with, now you need to begin to eliminate the unwanted items in your eating plan and include more of the fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Some people go cold turkey and eliminate all the unwanted stuff right away. Others eliminate an item at a time. Again the choice is yours. If you’ve only associated being a vegetarian with eating big bowls of salad and nothing else, welcome to an exciting journey. Those times have long past and a vegetarian lifestyle is filled with delicious and mouth watering eats and the salads have come a long way. The only boundary is your imagination. Now you start to have fun.

Step 4 – Create a menu plan based centered around your new eating choices. Do internet searches for vegetarians menu plans, check out library books on vegetarian cooking, experiment with different types of vegetables. Try out a few that appeal to you. Take your favorite vegetable and start looking for different ways to prepare it. Don’t be afraid to try a combination you’ve never tasted before, you might be pleasantly surprised at the taste.

Step 5 – Never stop learning. The key to sticking with any decision is to keep yourself informed. The more you read and listen to materials on the health benefits of different foods and the vegetarian lifestyle, the more motivated you are to stick with it especially in the beginning stages. I find that if some time goes by without me reading or listening to something health related I begin to long for foods that I once enjoyed but have decided to eliminate from my eating plan.

Step 6 – Be easy on yourself and those around you. Eating an occasional piece of ‘whatever’ amidst an otherwise healthy eating plan is okay. Don’t allow anyone to make you feel guilty for occasionally indulging. Go easy on those around you who have not yet made the decision to transition to a vegetarian eating plan. By your example they will be encouraged to take baby steps. Let them notice the weight loss, the increased energy, clearer skin and all the benefits that go with the vegetarian lifestyle. Answer their questions with a non-condemning or self-righteous attitude and share from time to time snippets from articles you read or audios you listen to. Don’t bombard them just be open to their questions and occasionally share what you are learning.

Usually served on special occasions, shark fin soup can cost up to $100 a bowl. Once desired by Chinese Emperors for its rareness, it is served to signify good fortune. The killing of sharks for their fins have brought protests from animal rights activists and environmentalists.

The soup is a broth with noodle like shark fin strips added for texture. It has minimal nutritional value. It can cause sterility in men when consumed in large quantities due to it high mercury content. It is not recommended for pregnant women and young children.

Annually close to 73 million sharks are killed for their fins. The U. S., Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom are the largest shark killers. This practice is causing some species to be endangered. The preferred species for the soup are Tiger, Mako, Sawfish, Sandbar, Bull, Hammerhead, Blacktip, Porbeagle, Blue and Thresher.

A shark does not reach sexual maturity until 12 to 15 years and has few pups. Most sharks that are caught have not reach sexual maturity. This is causing the decrease in population.

The reduction in the shark population has resulted in their prey to increase. Humboldt squid are stealing salmon from fishermen and cow nosed rays are impacting bay scallop fishing.

Although the fin is valuable, shark meat is not and is usually discarded into the sea. The shark, which is still alive and cannot swim, sinks to the bottom and dies. The U.S, Australia and the European Union has passed laws to control shark fishing. Recently, Hawaii has banned the sale, trade and possession of shark fins.

Hong Kong imports about 50% of the world’s shark fins. It is estimated that the market will grow 5% yearly mainly due an increase in demand in China. Some restaurants in that area are now offering a shark fin free soup made from the mung bean. Without control of killing its top predator, the oceanic ecosystem will be impacted.

Chocolate is no doubt a favourite eatable of young and old people through out the world. Some people say that chocolate lovers are romantic and emotional by nature. Some people express their love by eating chocolates but some people show their love by making some new innovations in the chocolate industry. These people love to create different styles of chocolate and make combinations with many other ingredients that taste perfect with chocolate. It is in fact that pilot production of Mars as if we study the history of Mars chocolate.

They made various combinations of chocolates and afterwards they blend all flavours together and coat it with some milk chocolate and as a result they created the history of Mars chocolate.

The Mars chocolate bar that is manufactured by Mars Inc was for the first time manufactured in Slough, Berkshire of United Kingdom in 1932. it was launched as the sweet version of American chocolate Milky Way bar produced by the Mars Inc. in United States. The European version of Milky Way is different from American version because it was produced by a number of other companies but the Milky Way of America was a product of Mars in corporation. It was totally a different chocolate bar which was sold in America with the same name. The main ingredients were caramel, milk chocolate, almonds and plain nougat.

The UK version of Mars chocolate contains about fifty eight gram bar having two fifty nine calories which is equivalent to thirteen percent of daily calorie intake in an adult person. If we go back in the history of Mars chocolate, in 1932, an American son of Frank C. Mars, whose name was Forrest Mars rented one factory in slough with about staff of twelve people started to manufacture a chocolate in United Kingdom which they had never seen in the surroundings. In those days, most of the chocolates were solid black plain bars but Mars was a new in which contains various ingredients. It was designed on the chocolate which his father was selling in America with the name of Milky Way.

But in United Kingdom, it was sold with the name of Mars. These both chocolates were same but they had different names. Further some changes in ingredients were made by following the recipe of other chocolates like double decker, Milky Way, and 5-star. Afterwards, the packing was redesigned to make it look different from other candy bars that were available in America.

In 1966, a famous quotation you might have heard about that a Mars a day will help you to play, rest and work was said by William Dagnall who used his work to break the competition tie between Mars and other chocolates in favour of Mars. But soon it was replace by pleasure that is immeasurable which sounds like more youth attractions. After the hit of Mars, variations in sizes and flavours were introduced in the market to increase the profit on the basis of chocolate but the mini Mars really contributed in the Mars history to make it more demanding among other brands.

People how love to eat sweet chocolates know very well when to say the chocolate they taste is of good quality. Treats of gourmet have been welcome alternative from the usual choices that you can find in a regular grocery store. If you are confident that your taste is sophisticated enough, then gourmet food is waiting for you to discover.

It is indeed a big question to ask what the descriptions of gourmet delicacies are for most of us. In most cases, we describe gourmet food as one of a kind special treat. It is considered as your unusual food; something that you don’t eat every day. Cost is the primary reason why gourmet food is treated as an extra ordinary recipe. Not everyone can afford a lavish recipe for every day meal. Not to mention that gourmet food utilizes fine standards of preparation using excellent ingredients. Due to its distinct quality, gourmet foods usually require so much time to prepare. It is often open for scrutiny by most chefs when seen in a banquet.

Considered as the best quality chocolate, gourmet chocolate is made with the finest cocoa beans. Meticulous measurements of ingredients are being observed when making it. Thus, it is usually made by hand. It comes in different varieties like you regular chocolate bar; dark and white flavour. You can expect to have special unique fillings when you taste it. Eating gourmet chocolate is best with gourmet coffee. You bet; it is the best blend of beans rich in aroma picked from different countries.

More and more foods have been included on the list of gourmet recipes. Fish is probably one of the foods that can be as expensive as you can imagine. You will find rare dishes from different locations with various delicacies made from fish. As popular as gourmet fish recipes, gourmet meats have also become recognized recipe in most cities around the world. Five start hotels have been offering it for decades now. Regardless of the economic conditions, you will notice that food delicacies have never been diminished.

No matter where you are; no matter who you are, gourmet foods are available in your location. You just need to find them or learn cooking them. It is not every day that you will eat a gourmet dish but knowing that you can prepare it yourself gives you the edge inside your own kitchen. Not everyone knows how to cook most importantly gourmet foods.

Celebrating every season of the year is probably everyone’s dream. With this busy society, not everyone affords to be with their families on these special occasions. If gourmet foods are always on the table when you celebrate the seasons with your loved ones, during the time that you have to be alone, it will make you remember them. In a wider perspective, gourmet foods bind each nation closer each other. Each nation welcomes and recognizes each other’s food delicacy. Someone from a different country would always want to try out someone else’s gourmet food. Let this trend remain to keep us together; even in spirit.

With a lot of talk about health and chocolate it is important to realize that there is a big difference between all types of chocolate and the health benefits they provide. One of the main health benefits that has been found in healthy dark chocolate is the flavonoids and they are more highly concentrated in dark chocolate because it has a higher cocoa percentage.

It is the cocoa which comes from a plant, which provides all of the health benefits. It is not only full of flavanoids but also minerals and other elements beneficial to health. Also white chocolate and milk chocolate contain more fat, refined sugar and fillers, which are not healthy.

Products which are coated with chocolate should also be eaten with caution because the amount of chocolate may be small and therefore the health benefits minimal. The product which is coated in the chocolate may be unhealthy and outweigh any health benefits provided by the chocolate. It is a balancing act, like any sort of healthy eating to make sure that you have the chocolate as part of a healthy balanced diet and have the dark chocolate if you want to ensure you are getting the maximum health benefits.

There is also a difference between different types of dark chocolate and this can effect the health benefits. Some have been processed a lot and have a lot of added sugar and so they are not so healthy as the ones which are less processed and have lower sugar levels. Some have a higher cocoa percentage than others as well. Check the labels of the chocolate to find out the ingredients and calculate which you think will be the best for you.

It is best to look out for the ones which have low sugar and high cocoa and as few other additives as possible. There are some bars which contain raw unprocessed cocoa and these are likely to be the best healthy dark chocolate.

There’s a ton of options when it comes to selecting wedding favors that relate to beverages. Perhaps you want everyone to have a fancy wedding goblet similar to the one you drank from. Maybe you want everyone to have a heavy personalized mug for warm beverages. Whatever it is you decide to give as wedding favors, we’re here to make suggestions and give you an estimate for what you’re about to spend.

Personalized Sodas
There are great little favors for everyone: non-drinkers, kids, and the person who collects everything! The greatest thing about these favors is that they can either be drank or kept as keepsakes. Labels for these sodas usually display the name of the bride and groom and their wedding date. Cost estimates approximately one hundred dollars for 100 labeled sodas. It’s a very affordable option.

Miniature Champagne Bottles
Get these miniature champagne bottles dressed and ready to party! Each bottle fills approximately one glass. If you can find bottle covers to add to your bottle, great! Dress your bottle up in a tuxedo and print your name and wedding date on the back of each tuxedo. This is a great option for couples having a smaller wedding, as it’s slightly costly. Approximate cost: twelve dollars per person.

Miniature Wine Bottles
Great for Adult guests of your wedding. These little bottles fill one wine glass. You can make your own labels on your home computer to save some money. An extra cute touch? Put the ingredients of the wine: love, laughter, friendship and honesty. This wine is best aged to perfection. Bottles can be purchased in bul from a local liquor store. A box of four is usually cost approximately seven dollars.

Coffee
Great wedding favors for adult coffee-lovers. Wrap flavored coffee in tulle, add a chocolate dipped spoon, add a ribbon, and viola! The perfect wedding favor. Average cost per person (including coffees and materials) is approximately three dollars.

Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans
Put a small blend of coffee beans into a sachet or box. Add a colored ribbon with your name and wedding date printed on it. Each box can read: “the perfect blend.” Cost: About three dollars per person.

Coffee Mugs
Purchase coffee mugs in the color of the bride’s maid’s dresses. Have the bride and groom’s name (or photograph) printed on each mug with
their wedding date. Add a chocolate covered spoon and some ribbon for an elegant touch. Cost: Approximately six dollars per person.
